How I got started creating multiple revenue streams
The path to financial freedom is different for everyone. My goal with Smart Entrepreneurship is to show you the path I took. My hope is that I may be able to pass along some valuable information so that you can reach your personal goals.
I have wanted to own my own business since I was 18. I have tried my hand at starting numerous businesses. The problem I kept running into was that I needed a huge investment in order to get any of them off the ground. Obtaining a huge investment meant creating an intensive business plan, connecting with the right people and a lot of luck. I eventually got burned out when I took one of my ideas for a website to a design company and they quoted me at $700,000 to create the site. After that I couldn’t do it any more, there was no way I was going to be able to come up with type of capital and I certainly didn’t have the time to create the foundation that was needed in order to obtain investments.
I tell you all that because it is what has brought to where I am today. I realized that maybe the key is not always trying to start a huge company right away but rather create a small or many small businesses that can be grown with time. With this new mind set, my wife and I took to Etsy and started Gracefully Made Jewelry in 2012 as our very first stream of revenue, independent of working for someone else.
Starting an Etsy store is certainly hard work but we gave it a shot because it was something we could start with little investment and grow over time. For us, this turned out to be the right move. After 2 years our annual profit from Gracefully Made Jewelry was $58,413. In 2014 it went up to $71,235 and in 2016 it was $107,000. Since then we have added 4 more streams of revenue and hope to continue adding more businesses and growing each one. Our path to financial freedom is under way and I invite you to join me on the journey!
I will give a monthly income report for each business and share what I learn along the way!
